People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India is a charitable organization with affiliates in the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands and the US. This organization was founded in 2000 and is based in Mumbai, India. The basic principle that governs the working of this organization is that animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on or to be used for entertainment.
PETA India’s investigative work, public education efforts, research, animal rescues, legislative work, special events, celebrity involvement and national media coverage have resulted in countless improvements to the quality of life for animals and have saved countless animals’ lives. PETA is highly involved in educating people about the right treatment towards animals and highly encourages vegetarianism.PETA focuses primarily in areas where a large number of animals are impacted. They are greatly involved in rescue operations of animals from circus and slaughter houses.
